With a reputation for excellence and dependability, Smiths Tubular Systems - Laconia offers unmatched capabilities and expertise in applications engineering, design, development and manufacture of PTFE assemblies, metal hose assemblies, and precision rigid tubular assemblies for the turbine engine and aerospace industry. Our business includes an independent testing division within the company, as well as an engineering laboratory located in our Springfield facility.

History of Smiths Tubular Systems:
In May of 2005, Titeflex Corp. and Lewis & Saunders merged and renamed as Smiths Tubular Systems – Laconia, Inc. with the manufacturing facility located at 93 Lexington Drive, Laconia, NH.

History of Lewis & Saunders:
Joseph E. Lewis founded the current manufacturing facility in 1913, in Baltimore, Maryland, for the manufacture of tube bending and coiling. In 1933, a corporation was formed with William W. Saunders and, henceforth; the company was called Joseph E. Lewis & Company, Inc. The company's first significant expansion came in 1942 with the production demands of World War II. By this time, the company was producing bent tubular parts for gun mounts and copper coils for refrigerator rooms on ships and became a prime contractor for the U.S. Navy for torpedo parts. Production capabilities expanded and, during this period, the company gained knowledge in fabricating high quality rigid tubular assemblies. In 1942, the company also became involved for the first time with producing aluminum intake tubes for the Wright engines of the B-29. In 1954, the company formed a branch in Laconia, New Hampshire called Lewis & Saunders, which primarily produced copper coils for domestic use. Joseph E. Lewis & Company, Inc.'s Baltimore plant was closed shortly thereafter. In 1983, the company moved to its present manufacturing facility, an 85,000 square foot modern structure, to provide for future growth and production requirements.

History of Titeflex Corp.:
In 1988 both Titeflex and Lewis & Saunders were acquired by TI Group plc; an international engineering group concentrating on specialized engineering businesses.

During the summer of 2001, TI Group merged with Smiths Industries and became what is now known as Smiths Group plc, a strategically organized group with a focus on electronic systems, actuation systems, precision components and customer service. The Smiths portfolio also includes medical, detection and protection equipment, land systems and marine systems.

Smiths Tubular Systems - Laconia is a major supplier for quality aerospace components for leading manufacturers in the turbine engine, airframe, defense and aerospace industry. It has received numerous citations for excellence from its customer base. These awards reflect the company's commitment to providing service, metalworking knowledge and quality products to its customers.

In the past decade, Smiths Tubular Systems - Laconia has broadened its product line from simple fabricated assemblies to providing customers with complete fluid transfer solutions in flexible, rigid or flex-rigid hybrid assemblies. We lead the world in steel-braided flexible hose, while also producing complex rigid assemblies in various high ferrous metals. As a result, Smiths Tubular Systems – Laconia can offer total integrated program management, kitting and support for tubular systems carrying fuel, lubrication, hydraulic fluid, gases or air, in aircraft, turbine engines, missiles and space vehicles.
